While sitting in a restaurant the other day, I pulled out my sketchbook and started drawing and painting. My goal was to get experience capturing an event with people in it. On the top one I used a combination of gouache and watercolor. On the bottom I freehanded all of it with just a brush and blue watercolor paint.

The Outdoor Watercolor Learning Experience
If you want to paint on-site in the public remember that your subject is always moving. Use thicker paint, especially if the paper is thinner. Too much water will likely deteriorate your page too quickly too finish the painting.
