From this view the Columbus, OH cityscape has a lot of character. You not only see the skyline, but intact railway bridges, the Olentangy River, skyscrapers, and a little bit of nature intruding the city.
I created this painting from a photo I took from the park in Franklinton this last summer.

The Outdoor Watercolor Learning Experience
While the sky is fairly solid in color, the water needs to look like it will move.
I isolated the water in a wet in wet technique
I started with wetting the area with clean water
Then, I added the blue
I subtracted a little using a dry brush
After that I put in the trees, which created a run of color when the wet paint touched the puddle of water
Other details were added in the process of the painting
